Handfasting Cords & Ropes
The handfasting tradition as much as we can tell originates in Germanic (Modern day Europe), Norse (Scandinavia) & Celtic (Ireland / Scotland) areas, with it being adopted into other areas of heathenry and paganism as a form of public display and declaration of a couple’s intent to marry. The term is derived from the very “to handfast” which is a term for “pact” or “charter”.
